The House of Ribs

Three East Rand restaurants folded into one site, with a branch switcher that changes the menu, the buffet and the phone number everywhere at once.

The brief

The House of Ribs runs family restaurants in Boksburg, Edenvale and Kempton Park. Each branch had its own website, each was dated in a different way, and the menu all three linked to was a PDF.

We built one site for all three. A pin in the header picks a restaurant, and everything follows it: trading hours, phone and WhatsApp numbers, the buffet sittings that branch actually runs, and which form a visitor lands on. The choice survives the next visit, and each restaurant can still hand out a link straight to its own page.

The menu came out of the PDF and into text: searchable, readable on a phone, and priced from a single file. The three branches share one menu today, with per-branch overrides ready for the day one of them prices differently.

What we built

  • One site for three restaurants, with a branch switcher that follows the visitor
  • Menu and buffet prices out of a PDF and into one editable file
  • Per-branch overrides for prices, sittings and unavailable dishes
  • Booking and contact forms that pre-select the branch and fall back to its WhatsApp number
  • Rib-bone brand mark, full icon set and QR codes for the tables
  • Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript — no build step, quick on a weak signal
